BIOPAD Collagen Dressings

Formulated with Type I equine collagen, BIOPAD is a primary dressing specifically created for helping treat challenging wounds. Type I collagen helps with scaffolding, encouraging the formation of new tissue as the material absorbs exudate.

How BIOPAD Collagen Dressings Work

To aid in wound healing and new tissue formation, BIOPAD contains five times the collagen of comparable dressings to perform the following functions:

  • Protection – Once applied directly the wound bed, BIOPAD collagen dressings create a shield against exterior factors, including exogenous agents that could invite infection.
  • Helping Wounds Heal – BIOPAD dressings help the wound progress through all stages. The porous material draws in exudate while helping control minor bleeding. As this occurs, the higher collagen content helps with deactivating MMPs and elastase, which can stall wound healing.
  • Encouraging Tissue Formation – Through 100% collagen construction free of fillers, BIOPAD dressings helps the body generate new tissue, including aiding fibroblasts in the healing and formation process and assisting new collagen fibers rebuild.

Behind this, Type I equine collagen retains its triple helix structure. This improves interaction with the body’s tissue to construct a scaffold aiding fibroblasts, cellular adhesion and tissue growth.

How to Use BIOPAD Collagen Dressings

  1. Prepare the wound bed according to appropriate wound management protocol and debride the wound if necessary.
  2. Cut BIOPAD, if necessary, to fit the size of the wound.
    – Wound with limited exudate:
    Hydrate BIOPAD with saline solution.
    – Wound with heavy exudate: Do not hydrate
BIOPAD. Rinse out the wound bed with saline solution or a wound cleanser prior to application.
  3. Apply BIOPAD on the wound bed, covering the entire surface. Do not overlap the edges of the wound. BIOPAD transforms into a biodegradable gel and does not need to be removed.
  4. Apply a secondary dressing according to appropriate wound management protocol. Depending on the amount of exudate, BIOPAD can be reapplied every 48 hours or per wound management protocol.
