Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Antibacterial Foam Dressings
Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressings are sterile, antibacterial foam dressings that can be used under Ostomy barriers and around the peri-stomal site. This 2.5 inch diameter Ostomy dressing utilizes open-celled polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam to continuously wick bacteria-laden exudate out of the wound and compromised peri-stomal skin.
The exudate uptake within the dressing allows for the reduction of the potential risk of skin maceration. The combination of methylene blue and gentian violet pigments provides broad-spectrum antibacterial protection, reducing bioburden while not inhibiting growth factors. This non-cytotoxic dressing facilitates autolytic debridement, is highly absorbent, and supports healthy granulation tissue formation.
Mode of Action
With Hydrofera Blue® antibacterial foam dressings, the mode of action happens within the dressing itself, ensuring infection control without releasing active substances into the wound bed.
Made from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam, Hydrofera Blue CLASSIC® Ostomy Dressings are infused with two organic antibacterial pigments – gentian violet and methylene blue – which provide non-cytotoxic protection and help to pull harmful bacteria, slough, and exudate from the wound surface.
These absorptive dressings manage exudate, reduces bacterial colonization, and do not inhibit growth factors, making it effective in all phases of the wound healing process.
All Hydrofera Blue® dressings are effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms (gram-negative, gram-positive and yeast) commonly found in wounds.
