Aspira Pleural Drainage System
The Aspira® Drainage System assists with draining fluid that has accumulated in the pleural or peritoneal cavity. Using a long-term, tunnel-style catheter, the Aspira® Drainage System acts at least 67-percent faster compared to similar drainage systems to relieve symptoms related to malignant pleural effusion and malignant ascites.
How the Aspira® Drainage System Works
Setting the Aspira® Drainage System apart from comparable systems is its absence of high pressure. Instead, consistent vacuum pressure applied in a lower capacity, a larger valve and more fenestrations improve the patient’s experience. This delivers a higher average flow rate, rather than a pace that decreases with time.
Aspira Pleural Drainage System Features
- An improved tunneled design that allows for more flexibility from its pre-shaped tunneler.
- A longer tunneler, which allows for more placement options.
- A 15.5F drainage catheter that can be trimmed down to size based on placement and cavity size.
- An Airguard® Valved Introducer to prevent fluids from leaking and reduce aspiration.
- A preloaded stylet with a Hydro-Glide™ coating. This component improves insertion by stiffening the catheter and lessening leaks.
- A replacement valve that can be swiped out without having to remove the catheter.
- 1L drainage bag with a compact, lightweight design.
- Vacuum-activated pump for more control and optimal fluid management.
