How Alcavis 50 Works
Structurally similar to water: As the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid is molecularly similar to water in terms of size, electrical charge and structure.
Fast-acting: During the disinfection process, bacterial membranes easily absorb this compound, which then deactivates and kills them in two minutes’ time. This fast-acting disinfectant additionally gets rid of fungi, spores, mycobacteria and viruses.

How to Use Alcavis 50
- Begin by ensuring proper handwashing and clinic PPE for staff, while patients should wear face masks.
- Place a sterile underpad beneath the catheter.
- Open both packages of 4×4 gauze pads on a chux sheet, making sure to keep the pads on their sterile wrappers.
- Thoroughly saturate both sets of 4×4 gauze pads with a generous amount of Alcavis 50 (8-12 ml).
- Put on clean, non-sterile gloves.
- Delicately position the catheter venous port within a 4×4 gauze pad soaked in Alcavis 50 and scrub the catheter end and port for one minute.
- Gently place the catheter arterial port in a saturated Alcavis 50 4×4 gauze pad and scrub the catheter end and port for one minute, ensuring an agitating motion while cleaning the ports.
- Carefully wrap the arterial port with a saturated Alcavis 50 4×4 gauze pad.
- Equally, wrap the venous port with a saturated Alcavis 50 4×4 gauze pad.
- Allow each port to remain wrapped for one minute.
- Carefully unwrap the catheter ports in preparation for initiating the dialysis treatment following clinic protocol.
- Repeat these steps when discontinuing the dialysis treatment as per clinic protocol.
