Sorbalgon Ag Alginate Dressings
Sorbalgon Ag is a soft, sterile, latex-free, and highly absorbent calcium alginate dressing. Made with high-tensile alginate textile fibers and ionic silver, this dressing transforms into a hydrophilic gel once in contact with exudate to conform to and protect the wound bed. Sorbalgon Ag is able to absorb more than 14 times it’s own weight, while still maintaining a moist wound healing environment. Silver ions are released in the presence of wound fluids, which help to protect the dressing from life-threatening microorganisms for up to 7 days.
How it Works
- Sorbalgon Ag absorbs the wound fluid and takes on a soft yet non-adhering gel consistency. This helps it conform to the wound bed while protecting its tissue from outside substances. When this occurs, the dressing starts to release silver ions, which provide antimicrobial protection against bacteria and microorganisms for up to 7 days.
- Sorbalgon Ag helps create a moist environment for the wound, aiding the healing process without dissolving.
- When the dressing is saturated, it can be removed in one piece without disturbing the wound bed and causing subsequent tissue damage.

Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions
- Do not use Sorbalgon Ag dressings on patients who have a silver allergy.
- This product is for single patient and for external use only.
- Frequent or prolonged use of this product may result in discoloration of skin.
- Sorbalgon Ag dressings are intended for use for up to 7 days.
- Do not use this product on dry wounds without first donating moisture to the wound.
- Do not use this product during radiation treatment or examinations, such as x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, or diathermy.

- Moderate to heavy exudating wounds
- Post-operative wounds
- Trauma wounds
- Leg, pressure, and diabetic ulcers
- First and second-degree burns
- Partial to full-thickness wounds
- Cavity wounds
- Graft and donor sites
How to Use Sorbalgon Ag Alginate Dressings
- Debride when necessary and irrigate wound site in accordance with standard protocols. Remove excess solution from surrounding skin.
- Choose the appropriate size dressing to cover the wound. Dressing may be cut if necessary.
- Cover and secure with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
- Dressing change frequency will depend on wound condition and is intended for use for up to 7 days.
- To remove: gently remove the secondary dressing. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline prior to removal. Gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard.
