Endoform Natural Restorative Bioscaffold – Fenestrated

Enndoform is an advanced wound care technology that addresses the underlying wound rather than simply managing the symptoms. Advanced extracellular matrix technology provides benefits at each stage of the healing process to stabilize, correct, build, and organize tissue in acute and chronic wounds. Endoform products are 85% collagen and 15% important secondary molecules, including structural and adhesion proteins, and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Endoform products only contain components found in tissue extracellular matrix.

During the inflammatory phase, chronic wounds are characterized by elevated wound proteases that limit healing by digesting important dermal proteins. Endoform products can help indicate the presence or absence of proteases and restores protease balance. If Endoform products are not visible in the wound bed at the time of reapplication, this can indicate elevated wound protease activity. However, if Endoform is visible, this can indicate that protease balance has been restored.

How  ECM Wound Care Technology Works

The core of Endoform wound care is ECM technology. ECM takes a holistic approach, assisting with stabilizing and correcting wound tissue before encouraging growth and remodeling. Through a blend of 85% collagen and 15% secondary molecules, Endoform contains components of the body’s tissues, allowing this wound care solution to react with its cells during the healing process. This interaction results in a biologically authentic yet porous structure designed to encourage epithelialization and fibroblast infiltration, which leads to new tissue formation with time.

Encouraging this pattern are the components making up Endoform:

  • Collagen: utilizes collagen I, a major structural protein, and collagen III, an early phase structural protein, to assist with building tissue.
  • Secondary molecules: These are divided between the GAGs, designed to draw in water to hydrate the new tissue’s structure, and adhesion proteins. Among the 148 total secondary molecules are hyaluronic acid, heparin sulfate, collagen IV, fibronectin and laminin, all aiding with formation, attracting new cells and growing new tissue.

Benefits

  • Helps maintain the tissue’s natural molecular structure
  • Assists with restoring the balance of proteases to help a wound heal
  • Creates a natural ECM structure that helps cells build new tissue
  • Contains more than 150 ECM proteins known to be important in wound healing
  • Contain residual vascular channels to support the establishment of new vasculature

  • Prevents biofilm formation

  • Is non-cytotoxic to dermal cells

  • Provides broad spectrum antimicrobial activity for up to 7 days

  • Can indicate the presence or absence of proteases and help restore protease balance and guide re-application

  • Provides a natural porous scaffold for rapid cell infiltration

Uses

  • Full and partial-thickness wounds
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous ulcers
  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Chronic vascular ulcers
  • Tunneled and undermined wounds
  • Surgical wounds (donor sites, grafts, post Moh’s surgery, post laser surgery, podiatric, wound dehiscence)
  • Traumatic wounds (abrasions, lacerations, skin tears)
  • Draining wounds
  • First and second-degree burns
  • Acute and chronic wounds
  • Cavity and deep wounds
  • Can be used with compression therapy, off-loading, and negative pressure wound therapy

How to Use Endoform Natural Restorative Bioscaffold – Fenestrated

  1. Prepare the wound bed by cleansing, irrigation and if necessary, debride to remove debris, necrotic tissue, or infected tissue.
  2. Select a sheet of the Endoform Natural which is slightly larger than the wound and apply aseptically. Endoform Natural can be applied as a whole sheet or trimmed so that it contacts the wound margins. Multiple sheets can be used to cover the entire wound bed.
  3. Apply device by placing the dry material in the wound and rehydrating with exudate or sterile saline. When hydrated, Endoform Natural transforms into a soft conforming sheet. Ensure that the device conforms to the underlaying wound bed.
  4. To protect Endoform Natural from adhering to the secondary dressing, apply a non-adherent dressing over the device to help protect the tissue while facilitating an optimal moist wound healing environment.
  5. Secure the device using an appropriate secondary dressing. The secondary dressing should be changed according to standard care, taking into account the level of exudate.
  6. Duration of treatment and reapplication is determined by a physician and depends upon the wound type and conditions. The biodegradable Endoform Natural is absorbed and incorporated into the wound over time. Reapply when the device has been incorporated into the wound. It is recommended to assess the wound within 72 hours.
  7. Endoform Natural may last up to 7 days in the wound, depending on the wound environment. Do not attempt to remove the off-white to golden gel that forms from residual Endoform Natural in the wound as it contains extracellular matrix components that assist in wound healing. If areas of the device as dry upon inspection, rehydrate with sterile saline and leave in place. If the product has been overlapped onto the peri-wound area, the remaining loose product that has not incorporated into the wound may be gently removed around the edges if desired.
Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions
  • Endoform Natural is derived from an ovine (sheep) source and should not be used on patients with known sensitivity to ovine (sheep) derived material.
  • Endoform Natural is not indicated for use on third degree burns.
  • Do not apply to wounds with uncontrolled clinical infection, acute inflammation, excessive exudate, or bleeding.
  • Single use product. Do not re-sterilize. Discard all unused portions. Device reuse may lead to wound infection.
  • Always handle Endoform Natural using aseptic technique.
  • Do not use past expiry date.
