IODOFLEX pads provide a three-in-one solution for controlling bacteria and healing wounds. Formulated with sterile Cadexomer Iodine, each pad holds onto exudate once applied, assists with debriding the wound bed and transforms into a gel consistency to conform to the surface.
As this occurs, the pads release iodine, which provides antimicrobial action to kill microorganisms.
Benefits
Once the iodine begins to have an effect, IODOFLEX pads change color. Each pad:
• Assists with creating a moist wound healing environment by taking on a gel consistency.
• Helps with managing exudate and controlling debris, reducing the amount of manual action needed.
• Controls bacteria to reduce potential infections and subsequent pain.
• Indicates when the pad should be removed by changing to a white color.
• Reduces the number of dressing changes by absorbing up to six times its weight in exudate and allowing the healing process to progress rather than stall.
• Provides non-adhesive application, which lessens trauma to the wound site during changes, allows for easier removal and improves patient comfort.
Usage
IODOFLEX pads can be used as a primary dressing for:
• Venous stasis ulcers
• Pressure sores
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Traumatic wounds
• Surgical wounds
Instructions for USE
Step 1 – Application
Clean the wound and the surrounding area with either a gentle stream of sterile water or saline. DO NOT DRY the wound surface.
Remove the carrier gauze on both sides of the paste using aseptic technique.
Apply IODOFLEX to the wound surface. Apply compression bandaging when appropriate. Any remaining IODOFLEX should be discarded.
Step 2 – Changing
IODOFLEX should be changed when it has become saturated with wound fluid, indicated by loss of colour, usually two to three times a week. If the wound is discharging heavily, daily changes may be needed.
If necessary, soak the dressing for a few minutes.
Gently remove the IODOFLEX using a stream of sterile water or saline.
Gently blot any excess fluid, leaving the wound surface slightly moist, before re-applying IODOFLEX.
Step 3 –After Using IODOFLEX
IODOFLEX may cause smarting especially in the first hour after treatment. Occasionally, IODOFLEX may cause the skin around the wound edges to redden. If the symptoms persist, or you experience other symptoms, please contact your doctor or nurse.
