Tegaderm Hydrocolloid Thin Dressing is a thin, absorbent, sterile, and highly conformable dressing. This dressing may be used as a protective dressing on at risk or intact skin to protect from friction. The Tegaderm Thin dressing maintains a moist wound environment for enhanced healing.
A Unique Layer Design
An innovative design that provides a long wear time for partial- to full-thickness wounds with low- to moderate-exudate.
- Hydrocolloid Layer – absorbs exudate without breaking down or leaving residue in the wound
- Film Border – water resistant and adheres firmly, even in the presence of moisture to prevent premature dressing failure due to edge lift; easy to wipe off after incontinence episodes
- Barrier Film – protects the wound and periwound skin from contaminants, body fluids, bacteria, and viruses; eliminates the need for taping edges, and minimizes exudate leakage; reduces the risk of shear and friction

How to Use Tegaderm Hydrocolloid Thin Dressing
- Select a dressing size that extends past the perimeter of the wound.
- Clip excess hair and clean the skin and wound thoroughly.
- Allow the skin to dry completely before applying the dressing.
- Remove the dressing from its paper liner by lifting and pulling one of the square end tabs marked “1” – exposing the adhesive surface.
- Center the dressing over the wound then gently presss the adhesive side of the dressing to the area from the center outward.
- With light pressure, smooth the film edges down to ensure good adhesion.
- Remove the delivery film by lifting and pulling one of the center tabs marked “2” toward one end of the dressing while smoothing down the dressing edges. Remove the other center tab in the same way.
- Gentle tear off the square end tabs at perforations in a downward direction and discard. Avoid lifting the film edges while removing the tabs. Then reinforce the entire film edge with firm pressure.
Removal
- Carefully lift the dressing edges from the skin. If there is difficulty, apply tape to the edge of the dressing and use the tape to lift.
- Continue lifting the edges until all are free from the skin surface.
- Remove the dressing slowly, folding it over itself. Pull carefully in the direction of hair growth.
Note: It is not unusual for wounds to have an odor. This may be noticed when the dressing is removed or when leakage occurs. The odor should disappear after the wound is cleaned.
Precautions
- Treatment of any skin ulcer should be part of a well-defined plan for ulcer management and under the supervision of a health care professional.
- When using Tegaderm Hydrocolloid Dressings, the wound initially appears larger in size and depth as unnecessary tissue is cleaned away. This increase should be accompanied by an improved appearance of the wound. If the wound gets larger after the first few dressing changes, see a health care professional.
- Observe the wound for signs of infection. If infection occurs, the signs of which may be fever, increased pain, redness, bleeding, swelling, or an unusual odor or discharge, see a health care professional.
- Rarely, irritation (reddening, inflammation), maceration (whitening of the skin), or hypergranulation (excessive tissue formation) may develop in some wounds under hydrocolloid dressings. Should these occur, consult a health care professional.
- If the wound does not begin to show signs of healing or if any other unexpected symptoms occur, consult the health care professional.
